So I started this blog as a way to keep family updated on what we have been up to and also to document the progress of our home improvement projects. So here’s a little background for those who don’t know us. Those that do know us can just skip this part.
Cast of Characters:
Bryan: (AKA Manuel - it's a long story, but that's his DIY nickname) He is the resident handyman, Jack-of-all-trades, perfectionist, do-it-all wonderful hubby. There isn't a project he can't do, and his skill level is beyond belief. A millwright by trade he can do anything. He has tackled plumbing, electrical, drywall, tiling, painting, you name it he can do it. We have even re-roofed a house before, all by ourselves! He is an expert with anything steel, and wood is starting to become his friend as well. He can build a beautiful trailers, but furniture isn't his strong suit - yet. He loves fishing, riding quads, restoring cars, and home improvement projects in addition to spending time having fun with the family.
Cindy: (AKA ME, the chef, mommy, financier, crafter, chauffeur, honey-do list builder, maid, cheerleader, etc.) I am the supporter & third hand when needed. I keep everyone well fed (I love to cook!) and entertained. I love all things crafty and am an avid sewer, knitter, and DIY'er. I love doing home projects with my hubby and trying to decorate our big beautiful house as we finish one project after another. In addition to all the home projects, I hold down a full time job as a catalog designer for a dirt bike/ATV/Street bike retailer. I enjoy spending time with the family, usually doing some sort of outdoor activity - when the weather cooperates. We love to camp and ride ATVs on the beach, play in the boat on the river in the summer time, and support the kids in their racing efforts at the local BMX tracks.
Gabriella (AKA Ella, Bossy older sister, cat lover, mini me) The newest teenager in the house she is a well rounded little smarty. She claims she's a nerd because she's in a higher math class. I just think she's super smart and am quite proud of her achievements. She works hard and plays hard too. She loves riding ATVs, camping, playing at the river in the summer, sewing, making friendship bracelets (her newest obsession) occasionally helping her parents with our house projects, oh yes, and BOYS!
Nick: (AKA Nickel, Bubby, active boy, wood pusher, BMX racer) He is all boy. Loves extreme sports and is an up and coming BMX racer. He loves his bikes (all 5 of them), skateboarding, knee boarding, water skiing, racing, ATVs, cars, remote control cars, fishing and occasionally helping dad with projects.
The House: We have lived in our current home now since 2006. We purchased a HUGE project home when we moved. It used to be an adult care facility, followed by a “home for wayward girls”. It sat vacant for almost 2 years before we came along. It had 10 bedrooms, 4 baths, 2 kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, and a disaster of a yard when we purchased it. All in all it was in pretty sad shape. We have been slowly fixing everything which had been so much fun, a little stressful at times, and very very dirty.
